President of 123 Farm and Highland Springs Resort
Tina Kummerle is president of Highland Springs Resort, a 2400 acre property comprising of a 56-room hotel, conference center, the award winning Grand Oak Steakhouse & Bar, and a 20-acre lavender farm. Under her leadership, the resort has become one of the largest organic lavender farms in all of California and hosts an annual lavender festival that draws 10,000 visitors. Her hope is that all children, including her own, will be inspired to appreciate and observe the 'real world' around them. Kummerle holds a BS from Colorado College in Environmental Science with an emphasis in Biology.
123 Farm Coordinator
Jan Kielmann is the farm coordinator of 123 Farm, with over 10 years in gardening. He oversees our extensive organic lavender fields as well as our organically-raised livestock. While originally interested in architecture and design, Kielmann has grown to appreciate the natural design and properties of the plants around us. Being the father of two young daughters, he hopes they will have the opportunity to explore the beauty of nature as he did. Kielmann holds a Master's degree in Landscape Planning from Technical University in Berlin, Germany.
The Farm curriculum is led by two of our property farmers with over 22 years combined experience in agriculture. Both have a passion for teaching our future generation about healthy eating, sustainability and the importance of maintaining a healthy environment.
