A farmer will guide you to harvest your own olive branches to feed our sheep. Please note the sheep field is about a 15-20 minute walk on uneven terrain and is not wheelchair accessible. This activity may not be ideal for guests who have difficulty walking.
Sheep Herding Demonstration
Time: 11 pm & 2 pm (March 19 & 20)
This demonstration will show the human/dog partnership and its value on a working sheep farm. A live simulation of a sheep herding competition will be presented. Come and see dogs at all levels of training as they help their human handlers with the livestock. The demonstration takes place on the farm next to the 1000-year-old oak tree. Please be prepared to walk about 10 minutes to the field from the main festival grounds.

Dana Rochat is an all-breed herding trainer and breeder of Australian Cattle Dogs. She has travelled throughout the U.S. the past 10 years to dog show competitions with her heelers. Dana is now training and giving lessons in Cherry Valley at the neighboring Oaks Ranch. Dana will be demonstrating how she uses her Australian herding dogs, to work her sheep in the sheep shearing pen.
